Description

In essence the finest producers in the south of the valley have harnessed the expertise of one of the greatest names in the North to forge a new and dynamic range, working with some of the best growers in some of the best vineyards.

The vines are located at the South-Western end of the Appellation, at the heart of the historical village of Gigondas. This wine gets its exceptional aromas from vines spanning less than 1 hectare of pre-Phyloxera vines (with nearly 100 years in age). The yields are very small and the production is limited to 1500 bottles a year.

Tasting Notes

From a sandy parcel planted to own-rooted Grenache in the 19th century, the 2018 Gigondas L’Argnee Vieilles Vignes boasts a stunning bouquet of dusty cherries and dried flowers. This full-bodied wine has what seems like a crystalline structure and purity, yet it’s silky in feel at the same time, finishing long and firm. I’m sure it will age well for at least a decade.
