Clos Mogador keeps producing some of the best wines from Priorat, which are seeing an improvement in the vineyards thanks to the addition of young Christian Barbier who works in regenerative agriculture.
“I’m always surprised by the freshness and minerality of this white blend, but the 2014 Nelin seems even fresher and more mineral. It’s a Garnacha Blanca-based blend with some Macabeo that smells of stones rather than fruit. They play with skin contact and natural yeasts, and the result is a deep colored yellow wine fermented slowly for six months and matured for a further 15 months before it was bottled in February 2016. The palate shows power and elegance with a mouthfeel of a red, focused and clean. This is a tour de force white Priorat for the long haul. When aged, this is the wine René Barbier always goes to for the cheese course.” 94/100 Luis Gutierrez – robertparker.com
