Description
A legendary terroir, a prestigious neighborhood, a providential encounter: the history and success of Château Clerc Milon are summed up in these three words. The terroir is that of Pauillac, where some of the world’s greatest wines are produced. The neighborhood is that of Mouton and Lafite, illustrious Premiers Crus whose nearby vineyards can be seen from the terrace of the Château.
Château Clerc Milon today has 41 hectares of vines, located in the north-eastern part of the Pauillac appellation. The vineyard is planted with five grape varieties typical of the region: cabernet-sauvignon (50%), merlot (37%), cabernet franc (10%), petit verdot (2%) and carmenère (1%). It has an average age of 53 years, probably one of the highest in the Médoc.
Tasting Notes
“The 2016 Clerc Milon has more fruit on the nose than d’Armailhac, with blackberry, raspberry and cedar, just a touch of leather coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, not the most powerful Pauillac, but well balanced with a grainy texture. A touch of cracked black pepper and tobacco towards the classically-styled finish. Old school in a good way.
