Description
Established in 1691 by M. Jodocus CISLE (former name of Zusslin), Domaine Valentin ZUSSLIN is now run by two generations of the Zusslin family who are following in the footsteps of their forbears. The winery is based in Orschwihr, south of Colmar, and the vines are planted on the slopes of the Bollenberg, Clos Liebenberg and Grand Cru Pfingstberg. Since 1997, the estate has been run in its entirety according to the principles of Bio-Dynamic culture. The vines are mainly worked by hand and a significant amount of time is devoted to caring for the soil.
” Riesling Orschwihr is the fruit of the blend of several plots of Riesling from the Domaine, with a main objective: to offer an aromatic Riesling and straight, systematically dry but expressive and evoking the fruity aromas typical of this grape variety Rhineland.
Like all the cuvées of the Domaine, this wine is vinified without any input, without fining, with a light filtration and a low addition of sulfur before bottling. This wine is aged for at least one year in tuns, on fine lees in order to give it structure, aromatic richness and harmony.”
Tasting Note
A super ripe and concentrated bouquet with spicy-mineral expressions. On the palate, this is a very elegant, complex and salty Riesling with a long, tensioned, very persistent and structured finish.
