Description
Since the 1945 Vintage, Château-Figeac has produced a second wine, created by Thierry Manoncourt, who was one of the first Bordeaux winegrowers to carry out a strict qualitative selection. Renamed Petit-Figeac from the 2012 Vintage, it has always been made eclusivley from grapes harvested at the Château-Figeac Estate. Petit-Figeac is the result of special selection at the time of blending. It contains all the know-how of the Château-Figeac team. Lighter and less ample than its big brother, it has a nice length in the mouth, a very fine texture and a lot of seduction. Its charm is revealed sooner. Petit-Figeac offers a perfect introduction to the spirit of the property.
Tasting Notes
The 2016 Petit-Figeac is a blend of 41% Cabernet Franc, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with bold scents of warm black plums, black cherries and mulberries with touches of baking spices, potpourri, unsmoked cigars and dusty soil. Medium-bodied, it is very bright, elegant and minerally in the mouth, with plenty of vibrancy and freshness on the finish. [90-90 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown– November 2018, robertparker.com]
