Description
Ever since they took over Domaine La Soufrandière in 2000, ever since they created their small scale “haute couture” merchant business called BRET BROTHERS in 2001 (high quality white wines from the Mâconnais region of Burgundy), this is what has been their credo and a source of vibration and passion : the diversity and richness of the terroirs of Burgundy (locally called ” Climats”) and primarily those in the Mâconnais, around one grape variety, Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes
The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Au Vignerais is showing superbly, bursting from the glass with notes of lemon, confit citrus, white flowers, fresh pastry and anise. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, muscular and powerful, with a dense, layered core, a bright spine of acidity and an abundance of chalky dry extract. From a south-exposed climat below the rock of Solutré, this is a fine new cuvée from the Bret Brothers’ domaine. [93+ Points, William Kelley – August 2019, robertparker.com]
