Description

It is no coincidence Famille Perrin is the leading organic wine grower of the Southern Rhône Valley where they occupy the region’s best terroirs. Their values have given them a worldwide reputation for excellence: absolute respect for the soil, a commitment to manual methods and a deep belief that organic viticulture is the only way to express the true essence of the terroir. Moreover the combination of talents within the family ensures the continuation of their unique expertise. Nature and tradition are key to the Famille Perrin way and this approach has continued seamlessly over five generations.

The 14 hectare vineyard in Cairanne is located south west of the old village. The soils are stony, made of clay and sand, making fresh wines which can develop beautiful aromas of blackcurrant, Garrigue and liquorice.

Vinification: As of August, we carry out maturity checks and berry tastings to determine the optimal date for harvest. The crop is manually picked and the grapes are sent to the cellar. After sorting, they are destemmed and vatted. Fermentation takes place over approximately 15 days. The extraction is managed according to daily tastings, which will determine if we pump-over or punch-down. When the maceration is finished, we rack and put the juices into large oak Foudres or stainless steel vats.

A blend of 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah

Tasting Notes

Attractive peppery note on the palate, in a north-meets-south style. Deep-pile tannins that have a furry but yielding texture. Medium body, moderate persistence. Has a natural sense of potency.
