Description
Château Miraval is located close to the ancient town of Correns, just to the north of Brignoles right in the heart of Provence. Its history goes some way to explain the magical aura which pervades the valley; located close to the Roman road Via Aurelia, Miraval was the site of a monastery in the Middle Ages, thereafter a refuge for the Bourbon kings. The latest incumbents are no strangers to fame and fortune; not only is Miraval the summer retreat of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, but it is also the winery where they have launched a joint venture with the Perrin Family of the renowned Château de Beaucastel in the Rhône Valley.
Miraval Rosé is made from the Chateaus’ best parcels (Muriers, Longue, Romarin), as well as from a selection of vineyards close to the village of Correns, just north of Brignoles in the heart of Provence. The terroir is mostly clay & limestone with terraces located at an average of 350 meters. Cool climate for the area with a large diurnal temperature range. The grapes are harvested exclusively in the morning and sorted twice. These are then destemmed followed by direct pressurage for Cinsault, Grenache and Rolle. The Syrah is vinified partially using the”saignee“ method. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats (95%) and in barrels (5%) using batonnage.
Tasting Notes
A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle and Syrah, sourced from vines planted on clay-limestone soils, the 2022 Cotes de Provence Rose reveals aromas of red berries, spices, peach, watermelon, spring flowers and pomegranate. Medium-bodied and elegantly oaky with a spicy touch, it’s fresh and fruity with a mouthwatering, elegant finish. This rosé benefits from the expertise of the Perrin family.
