Description

Fertile and nourishing, the Domaine de Leos has an exceptional historic terroir with a preserved biotope which largely explains the quality of all their products. Its gently sloping plateau is made up of plates of rock, covered with limestone. Stony and shallow, it is particularly well suited to the cultivation of olive trees, truffle oaks and vines. The Vineyard is owned by French actor Patrick Bruel and the wine is named after his two sons Leon and Oscar.
This exceptional rosé wine was born from the meeting between Patrick Bruel (owner of Domaine de Leos) and Nicolas Jaboulet (Maison & Domaines les Alexandrins). The authentic taste and passion for the terroirs that brought them together allowed them to go further in the search for a wine of excellence with the ambition of making a rosé wine like Nicolas Jaboulet makes his great white wines of the ‘Hermitage.
The Leos cuvée Augusta 2022 has been marked 91/100 by the Decanter guide. Read in more than 90 countries, this monthly magazine is considered by most as the best wine magazine in the world.

Tasting Notes

This elegant organic rosé, with a pale “rose petal” color, is a great pure, fresh rosé wine of remarkable fullness. A singular character, born from a subtle blend between the fresh and mountainous character of Ventoux, the spicy and sunny aromatics of the Alpilles and the sweetness of the Luberon, which allows it to be both an aperitif wine and a companion ideal for a meal.
The first nose is seductive, with very floral notes and white-fleshed fruits. The mouth is ample with lots of roundness. The attack is frank, a nice length in the mouth settles in and leaves a pleasant aromatic persistence. Definitely a rosé for lovers of great wine.
“Served cold from the ice bucket, this wine initially appeared simple with fruity strawberry bonbon and fresh leafy notes; long, fresh and mineral with a gently phenolic finish. But wow! As the wine warmed up in the glass, all of the floral, rich and creamy notes typical of Bourboulenc filled out the palate, balanced by the freshness of the Rolle and the red fruit of the Grenache, creating an altogether characterful rosé.”
