Description
Founded as a small business back in 1894, the house of Agrapart has developed into an almost cult-like boutique winery since Pascal Agrapart took over in 1984, and can be mentioned in the same breath as names such as Krug or Selosse. Despite its popularity among Champagne lovers, Agrapart does not focus on growth and still farms a modest 10 hectares of parcels in the Grand Cru sites of Avize. These are farmed according to biodynamic criteria, although not explicitly certified. The respect for nature goes so far that the work in the vineyard is not done by machine, but with the help of horses, thus preventing undesirable soil compaction.
Tasting Notes
“The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Terroirs Grand Cru is unusual in that it is a blend of three vintages (2021, 2020 and 2019) instead of the more typical two, because of very low yields in 2021. There’s real density and power here, but not at the expense of Côtes des Blancs citrus, floral and mineral character. As always, the Terroirs is a blend of parcels in Avize, Oger, Cramant and Oiry, all Grand Crus. The blend is 20% 2021 and 80% split between 2020 and 2019. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year.”
