Description

The unusually named Domaine de Chevalier, an estate that sounds more at home in Burgundy than Bordeaux, makes some of the most important red and white wines in Pessac-Léognan. The vineyards sit on gentle slopes within a forest clearing and are carefully managed using biodynamic farming methods. Each vintage, the grapes are meticulously hand-harvested, and the attention to detail is so exacting that they are individually sorted prior to leaving the vineyard. .

Tasting notes

“The 2016 Domaine de Chevalier has a creamy, sensual bouquet that is very different from Les Carmes Haut-Brion, perhaps more sheen, well defined, with black plum and tobacco in the background. Like others, this coheres extremely well in the glass. The palate is very well balanced, with gentle grip, just the right sapidity and a precise, fresh and saline finish. Classy. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.”[96/100, Neal Martin , February 2026, vinous.com]
